Rick Akin began his legal career in 1984 with Clark, Thomas, Winters & Newton, Austin’s then largest firm, and worked with such luminaries as Ambassador Edward Clark, Donald Thomas, Mary Jo Carroll (the first woman in private practice in Texas), and Conrad Werkenthin.
In 1989, Rick became an equity class Shareholder in the firm and by 1990 he was a member of the firm’s six-member Management Committee. He continued his service on the Management Committee until term-limited in 1995.
Being a managing shareholder of Austin’s largest firm gave Rick a rich array of contacts, not just in the Central Texas region, but because of the firm’s stature, contacts across the United States.
Today’s Legal MarketLike the markets for all other goods and services, the market for legal services today has vastly changed. Efficiency and the highest quality are more important than ever. Clients expect and deserve to have their cases handled by the best of the best and for a reasonable price that makes good business sense.
That is why The Akin Firm has adopted a revolutionary business model. Gone are the days of inefficient law firms stocked with dozens of employee lawyers – a structure that increased cost and limited flexibility in getting the right person on a case.
At The Akin Firm, we handle cases with strategic alliances. We associate the best counsel for your case to complement our expertise and work with them as a team. This lowers our overhead and your cost and helps insure that you have the best team for your case.
We may look small, but our resources are huge.
